Recreation Program
The Jr. Knights Recreation Program aims to create a solid lacrosse foundation and to provide an excellent experience for kids, while becoming a sustainable and growing club in the future. Leagues are set up by age from U11 to U15 for both fall and spring seasons. Coaching plans have been developed in conjunction with the Centennial Coaching Staff for every level to ensure consistent development. Games and tournaments are scheduled to provide the best opportunities for learning the fundamentals of the game in the most competitive environments in Metro Atlanta. At the Recreation level, everyone plays and should get a good amount of playing time. Recreation players may not always get to equal playing time, but generally a player will not sit out for more than one quarter of a game.
Select Program
The select program is designed for the competitive lacrosse player who understands the commitment involved and has shown a willingness to take on this extra commitment to elevate his game to its peak. It is our goal at Centennial Jr. Knights Lacrosse to offer recreation and select levels of lacrosse in the spring. We feel one of the strengths of having both select and recreation levels under the banner of Centennial Jr. Knights is that it gives our recreation level player something to strive for as their lacrosse skills and lacrosse knowledge grows.
At the select level there is no guarantee of playing time like in our recreational team, and coaches determine their lineup and degree of playing time that most benefits the team. Select teams are available for middle school girls during spring season. Teams will be selected through the November middle school evaluations; select team coaches have the final say on roster decisions. We purposefully do not call the evaluations "tryouts," because we do not cut players. If a player is not invited to play on a Select Team, then the player can play on our recreations teams. Everyone develops their skills at different levels. There are plenty of players who did not start lacrosse until 8th grade and ended up playing varsity lacrosse in high school. Plus, if you play on a Recreation team, you may get significantly more playing time than if you play on a Select team. A player should play on the team that allows him/her the most skill development.
